Christmas Menu at Cappadocia

The team at Cappadocia clearly want you to feel more than full when you leave their great Jewellery Quarter restaurant which brings flavours of Turkey (The Country) to Birmingham.
Their three course Christmas Menu is £25.95 and features a choice of ten starters (Five hot, five Cold) including Hummus Kavurma (Diced lamb pan fried), Falafel, Sigara Boregi (Filo pastry parcels stuffed with feta cheese and parsley). There’s nine mains including; Musakka, Sea Bass, Mediterranean Chicken and Kuzu Güveç – (Lamb Casserole), Pick from five desserts; Sütlaç (Turkish Rice Pudding), Kabak tatlısı (Turkish Pumpkin, Chocolate fudge cake, Baklava, or Movenpick Ice Cream.

Christmas Menu at Cucina Rustica

Head down to Ludgate Hill in Birmingham’s famous Jewellery Quarter. Great personal service set this Italian Restaurant from other places in Birmingham.
Lunch: 2 courses £ 25.95 – 3 courses £31.95, Dinner: 3 courses £31.95 pick from five starters, six mains and four desserts. Starters including: Caprino Fritto (Deep fried goat cheese), Rotoli di Salmone (Smoked salmon rolls filled with white crabmeat), I’d pick Ravioli Di Ricotta (Spinach and ricotta cheese ravioli). Mains: Branzino (Sea bass fillet with limoncello, cream, saffron and mussels), Gnocchi al Dolcelate, Tacchino di Natale (Free range turkey, chipolata sausage, classic four seasons stuffing), I’d pick Tagliata di Filetto (Beef, thyme, rosemary, oregano & brandy, cream and peppercorn sauce). For Dessert: Panna cotta, Tiramisu, Cheese Selection or Lemon Sorbet. I’ll have two of each please!

Three courses for £33.95 is the deal from this Temple Street based restaurant, where great service and lovely food compliment the glossy surroundings. Pick from seven starters including Ravioli Con Lobster, Salmone Affumicato or Terrina Di Pollo Con Porto (Chicken Liver Pate with Port and Cranberry). Seven mains including Tagliatelle Porcini, Suprema Di Pollo Principessa or Medaglione Al Pepe (Fillet of beef medallions). Ice Skating (17th November – 6th January)

Every hour from 10am-10pm sees a 45 minute skating session begin. Don’t forget those coats, gloves, hats and maybe even a spare pair of socks. Each session is £9.50 per person for adults and £7.50 for under 12s and for concessions.

I’ve been visiting Ikon for twenty years and to see how it adapts to any situation is pretty amazing. “An exclusive reception in Ikon’s galleries with champagne and canapés provided by Yorks.” £27.50pp featuring a Glass of Champagne on arrival. To start, Aubergine, harissa & chickpea soup shot, Goats cheese roulade w/homemade pickles, To follow Norfolk black turkey on sourdough crisp, Roast shallot & wild mushroom stack, with Christmas Pudding to end.

Christmas Menu at Laghi’s (From 16th November)
Laghi’s Deli, 22-24 Islington Row Middleway, Birmingham B15 1LD
The lovely friendly team at Laghi’s are proud of their Italian menu so expect them to step up their game for Christmas. The menu is £35pp for three courses plus a welcome glass of Prosecco.
There’s Cocktail di gamberi (Prawn cocktail) or Cozze gratinate (Mussels Gratin) Pate di fegato di pollo (Chicken liver pate with homemade Italian bread), but I’ll be picking Caprese Tricolore (Buffalo Mozzarella) to start,
For mains there’s a choice of five dishes including: Tagliatelle al Cioccolato con ragù di cerro (Handmade chocolate tagliatelle with venison sauce), Spigola alle erbe con ratatouille (Seabass with herbs). I’d be trying Cotechino con Lenticchie (Traditional Italian sausage & lentils with mashed potato). To finish: Panna Cotta, Tenerina al Mascarpone, Affogato al caffe but its the Sorbetto al Limone for me.

The lovely team at Opus are all about great quality British ingredients and their three course Christmas menu for £35pp features: A choice of three starters, Parsnip Soup, Scottish smoked and home cured Salmon or Duck Terrine. Pick from four mains Free-range Turkey from Caldicott Farm, Braised Beef, Fillet of Devon Cod or Mushroom, Spinach and Ricotta Rotollo. Desserts feature Opus Christmas Pudding, Rum and Cinnamon Creme Brulee, Chocolate Cheesecake. I think it would be Duck, Turkey and Cheesecake for me!

I’ll be choosing Pigs in Blankets, either a Deep & Crisp & Vegan Pie (Creamy Vegan Turkey Pie with Celeriac, Smoked Garlic & Sherry) or Mistlemoo (British Beef Steak, Bacon & Port), Smokey Baked Beans, Mash as my sides and plus Meaty sticks rounded off by a Mince Pie Ice Cream Sundae for pudding!
