New Season Preview: New Alexandra Theatre, Birmingham
Its an Autumn packed with Musicals at New Alexandra Theatre as UK tours such as Saturday Night Fever, Motown – The Musical, Dirty Dancing, Rock of Ages and Fame the Musical roll into Birmingham.
A host of top comedy shows will also feature over the coming year. Ross Noble will bring his El Hablador show to the venue on Sunday 11 November, Dylan Moran stars in Dr Cosmos on Saturday 22 September and The Goon Show tours on Tuesday 18 September 2018.
Boogie Nights – The Musical (22nd-25th August)
The New Alexandra Theatre annual Stage Experience is Boogie Nights which tells the story of Roddy O’Neil a musician reacting the death of Elvis “Packed with all the greatest disco classics including You Sexy Thing, Y.M.C.A., I Will Survive, In The Navy, Can You Feel The Force, I Love To Love, Boogie Wonderland”

Saturday Night Fever (25th-29th September)
Setting out on a UK tour at the end of August, Saturday Night Fever brings its unique take on the 70s and the story of Tony Manero to the city with big hits including Stayin’ Alive, How Deep Is Your Love, Tragedy, More Than A Woman, Boogie Shoes, Disco Inferno and of course Night Fever.

Motown The Musical (11th October – 3rd November)
Based on the life of Motown founder Berry Gordy, the West End smash hit makes its way up the M1 to the New Alexandra Theatre for over three weeks. Check out the video below for the trailer.

Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story On Stage (5th-10th November)
Described as ‘the biggest theatre sensation of all time’, Dirty Dancing – the Classic Story On Stage, features the much-loved hits Hungry Eyes, Baby Do You Love Me? and the heart-stopping (I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life.

Rock of Ages (13th-17th November)
The smash hit musical Rock of Ages returns from Tuesday 13 to Saturday 17 November and is sure to have everyone singing along to a host of epic songs including Here I Go Again, The Final Countdown and Can’t Fight This Feeling.

Fame The Musical (19th-24th November)
Fame is the international smash hit sensation following the lives of students at New York’s High School For The Performing Arts as they navigate their way through the highs and lows and the romances and heartbreaks in life.
Featuring the Oscar winning title song and a cast of outstanding dancers, singers, musicians and rappers, Fame stars Keith Jack, Mica Paris and Jorgie Porter.

Awful Auntie (27th-1st December)
From the award-winning West End producers of Gangsta Granny comes David Walliams’ amazing tale of frights, fights and friendship, featuring a very large owl, a very small ghost and a very awful Auntie!

Benidorm Live (3rd-29th December)
Check-in is also open for the World Premiere of Benidorm Live which takes over the New Alex for a festive run, from Monday 3 to Saturday 29 December.
The first ever stage version of the hit ITV Show will celebrate over a decade of all-inclusive hilarity, having followed the ensemble cast of holiday makers and staff for ten series since it was first broadcast.
It will star all of the fan favourites including Jake Canuso (Mateo), Janine Duvitski (Jacqueline), Adam Gillen (Liam), Sherrie Hewson (Joyce Temple-Savage), Shelley Longworth (Sam), Tony Maudsley (Kenneth) and featuring Neptune’s very own Asa Elliott, as well as the show’s creator Derren Litten, who has just been cast as Derek.

Avenue Q (12th-16th February)

Glengarry Glen Ross (18th-23rd February)
After a sell-out run in the West End, Mark Benton and Nigel Harman will star in the darkly funny production of Glengarry Glen Ross which comes to New Alexandra Theatre in 2019. The well-loved TV stars are the deal-chasing, cut-throat salesmen in this razor sharp revival of Mamet’s Olivier and Pulitzer Prize winning masterpiece.
Tom Gates Live on Stage! (13-16 March)
Also on the bill is the first ever stage show of Tom Gates, based on the hit books and brings all the much loved characters of the story to the stage. Everyone is invited to join Amy Porter and Dogzombies when it arrives from 13th March.

American Idiot (9th-13th April)

The House on Cold Hill (6th-11th May)
Meanwhile No.1 selling author Peter James brings the World stage premiere of The House On Cold Hill from Monday 6 to Saturday 11 May 2019. The show is a modern day ghostly thriller that promises to send shivers down spines and make you think twice about returning home to a dark, empty house.

The Rocky Horror Show (13th-25th May)
Richard O’Brien’s legendary rock ‘n’ roll musical returns to the UK as part of a sell-out worldwide tour, having now been seen by over 30 million theatregoers.
Directed by Christopher Luscombe and featuring timeless classics, including Sweet Transvestite, Damn it Janet, and of course, the pelvic-thrusting Time Warp, The Rocky Horror Show is the story of two squeaky clean college kids – Brad and his fiancée Janet. When by a twist of fate, their car breaks down outside a creepy mansion whilst on their way to visit their former college professor, they meet the charismatic Dr Frank’n’Furter.
It’s an adventure they’ll never forget…

Madagascar The Musical (31st July-4th August)
But before all of that Madagascar The Musical will delight adults and children alike in a brand new production which comes to the theatre from Tuesday 31 July to Saturday 4 August.
Filled with outlandish characters, adventure galore and an upbeat score, it promises hours of fun as it follows the characters as they escape from New York’s Central Park Zoo and find themselves on an unexpected journey within a madcap world.
