Wok to Walk – New Street, Birmingham

Wok to Walk is a big chain, with branches in London, Barcelona and Tokyo, in fact all over the world. However, it has only opened on New Street, Birmingham a few weeks ago. Attending an intimate bloggers event, we were invited to take part and prepare our own meals! It was explained to us that although the wok chefs are specially trained, we would be fine and not to worry about the flames!

Thankfully our food didn’t get burnt! We were offered a drink on arrival and pleasantly surprised to find a good selection of quality beers, alongside homemade lemonade.

The ordering and selection of food is a simple process. It is designed to help you choose a tailor made meal in a few minutes and only have to wait five minutes for it to be prepared:

Choose your base and sauce for £3.95, then add your ingredients and toppings as you wish. The ingredients are all fresh and changed frequently. The team are happy to cater for allergies and everything is carefully kept in separate containers and cooked in separate woks as necessary.

The team of between 2-5 each day have to work in such a tight space they they try and pre-box the bases such as the rice, in advance. This also helps save time when customers place orders. There is also only one size box and one set portion size for each ingredient, again time saving for customers and staff.

I chose a Jasmin rice base, with Saigon sauce, chicken, broccoli, bamboo, cashew nuts, button mushrooms. It was delicious and really filling. I like that fact you could taste the sauce, but it was drowning in it.

There is a surprising amount of choice here. I also like the little additional bonuses such as the charging points and further toppings on the tables. Wok to Walk are hoping to get their website live soon. They have an app where you can build up points to get free meals and will hopefully on a food delivery site soon. They now have biodegradable straws for their drinks too. Also, they all wear custom Crocs!

If you visit Wok to Walk you will be warmly welcomed, find good quality food and drink, be served quickly and leave happily well-fed.

Find Wok to Walk at 109 New Street, Birmingham B2 4EU. Open from 10.30am-11pm Sunday to Wednesday and until 1am Thursday to Saturday.
