Rick Edwards to host Birmingham Young Professional of the Year 2018
Journalist, presenter and screenwriter Rick Edwards has been announced as the host for this year’s Birmingham Young Professional of the Year (BYPY) awards.
He has recently presented a documentary on Channel 4, and will now be heading to Birmingham to reveal the winners in each of the award categories as well as crowning one individual the 18th ‘Birmingham Young Professional of the Year’.
Rick Edwards, forged his career on the stand-up circuit, is also known for presenting BBC1’s daytime quiz show !mpossible, ITV2’s comedy roast Safeword, BBC Three’s live current affairs debate show Free Speech and Channel 4’s Paralympic Breakfast Show. He actively campaigns for youth engagement in politics and released his first book ‘None of the Above’ in 2015, in which he describes the basics of the political process in the UK.
Joining hundreds of members of the city’s professional services sector, Edwards will reveal winners across six award categories: Finance; HR, Recruitment and Training; Legal; Marketing and Communications; Property and Construction; and Technology, with one category winner taking the coveted title of BYPY.
For a second year, the overall BYPY winner will receive a fully-funded Executive MBA scholarship from Aston University worth £20,100.
BPS Birmingham Future’s flagship event, BYPY also recognises a standout individual aged between 16 and 24 in the Aspiring Talent category, as well as an Inspiring Leader, someone that has shown unwavering commitment to the city.
