Five places to go when you are done with the Christmas Markets in Birmingham

Let not kid ourselves here, Its nice standing in the middle of Victoria Square eating a chocolate dipped stick of strawberries and drinking a mulled wine but there comes a point where you might need to defrost:

So here is five places to head to in central Birmingham:

Twist Cafe

3 Ethel Street, Birmingham B2 4BG

This small but perfectly formed cafe sells Bubble Tea, hot, cold, milky, sweet, fruity, there’s an amount of seating both inside and out. But its the bubbles that you are here for. Cherry, Blueberry, Mango are my go to flavours and I usually have a Blueberry Bubble Tea.

Grand Central (Above Birmingham New Street Station) B2 4BF

You can pretend all you like that you are going to have something other than Chicken Katsu but what’s the point. I’ve actually had Kokonatsu Curry the past couple of times I’ve been there just to throw them off the scent. Pretend you are in London and sit around the main serving area. Or eat your food and stare out of the window smugly at other shoppers.

Cherry Red’s Cafe Bar

88-92 John Bright St, Birmingham B1 1BN

On the opposite side of Birmingham New Street Station lies Cherry Red’s Cafe Bar. Sandwiches, Milkshakes, All Day Breakfasts and all on plates. I feels strange highlighting serving things on plates but this is 2017. And a Turkey, Brie and Cranberry Sauce Sandwich for a fiver.. in the warm! Don’t tell everyone, there won’t be enough seats for us!

Purecraft Bar and Kitchen

30 Waterloo St, Birmingham B2 5TJ

A stones throw from the Frankfurt Christmas Market in Victoria Square is Purecraft Bar a modern with a handcrafted industrial vibe, many choices of beers will greet you including lots to choose from the award winning Purity Brewery which is based just south of Birmingham.

Java Lounge

124 Colmore Row, Birmingham B3 3SD

Friendly staff and a slight business vibe are what typify this medium size venue. People are here to meet, drink coffee and eat a spot of lunch. There’s usually distracting cakes on the main counter and a collection of teas and coffees that will leave an expert with questions.

The Birmingham Christmas Markets are on until December 24th 2017* in central Birmingham. Brace yourself.

*The Markets run from 15th November to 23rd December 2018

This isn’t a sponsored post and I’ve picked each of these lovely independent venues myself.
