Drayton’s Magical Christmas
In the words of Noddy Holder – Its Christmaaaasss!! Well, it’s late November, so practically Christmas, and just the right time to kick off those festive proceedings at a much loved Midlands theme park!
Every year Drayton Manor near Tamworth hosts its Magical Christmas event, where youngsters have the opportunity to meet Father Christmas in the Castle of Dreams whilst still enjoying a day of fun within Thomas Land.
This year was bigger and better than ever before, with spectacular decorations, festive music and fairy lights as the park was transformed into a spectacular Winter Wonderland.
#BrumHour was lucky enough to attend this year’s event, bracing the freezing weather to enjoy a fun filled day out. First tip for you day-trippers? – Wrap up warm! This is a largely outdoors event so get your thermals on!
We kicked off the day at the usual rides in Thomasland, where there’s a special Christmas Show on offer hosted by the Princess Of Dreams and the much-loved Fat Controller.
With a host of well-known Christmas classics, and even a flurry of snow! This is guaranteed to get even the biggest Scrooge in the festive spirit… Even Thomas had a makeover courtesy of a red nose and antlers! Talking of red noses – you can also find stunning real reindeer in the children’s zoo this time of year, so if you’re brave enough to make it around in the cold, then you’re certainly in for a treat.
Elsewhere, a 30 foot lightshow Christmas tree is set to Christmas music, and it’s a real stunner when the park goes dark for the night, inside the 4D cinema, there’s a 15 minute 4D movie experience from The Polar Express, which is full of fun and thrills for all the family.
Then of course no visit to a Winter Wonderland would be complete without a meet and greet with the big man himself – Father Christmas! You can meet him inside the Enchanted Castle of Dreams, which is really gorgeous inside, with its Knights and Dragons adorning the walls. Brummie Santa is a real hit with the kids, and there’s a lovely gift inside those goodie bags, although we won’t spoil the surprise! Once you’ve met Santa for your colourful meet and greet and gift you can then enjoy free face painting and indoor games inside the Castle Of Dreams, which is one of the most charming parts of the park.
At 5.30pm, there is then a magical parade which leaves from Thomasland and culminates in a short show on a stage within the main park, followed by a stunning fireworks display, which tops off a most enjoyable day out.
As Santa visits go, with park included, Drayton Manor’s Magical Christmas is excellent value at £22 per person – If you can handle the weather! Under 2s go free.
Drayton’s Magical Christmas is on until 31st December. Full details on how to book check out: draytonmanor.co.uk/magical-christmas
