His band, Imagination, enjoyed huge chart success in the 1980s, with their biggest hits “Just An Illusion”, “Body Talk”, “In And Out Of Love” and “Flashback”, selling more than 30 million records worldwide.

Speaking of this unique opportunity, he said: “All any young and aspiring musician really needs is that one big break to kickstart their career. I thought what better way to give someone that chance than to be able to perform in front of a sell out crowd at the Jam House.

“There’s a monumental amount of talent right here in Birmingham and I want to be able to push that talent out there for everyone to hear and see for themselves.

“I want someone whose music makes people feel good, that’s the most important thing. Whether it’s soul, jazz or even just you and your guitar I want to hear what you’ve got.”
