Scott Ritchie Productions presents THE THREE DEGREES at The Old Rep, Birmingham

For one night only, the longest-running female vocal group in history returns to one of their favourite UK cities!

For one night only, The Three Degrees, the longest-running female vocal group in history returns to Birmingham as part of a 28-show tour across the UK.

Direct from the Jazz Café in London and appearing with The Three Degrees Band, the unstoppable trio will perform some of their greatest hits and enduring classics at The Old Rep on Tuesday 20 September at 7.30pm.

The Three Degrees head to Birmingham's The Old Rep 20 September 2016

Currently celebrating 50 years in the business, original members Helen Scott and Valerie Holiday, along with new arrival Freddie Pool (who joined in 2011), look forward to returning to Birmingham, a city close to their hearts.

Helen Scott of The Three Degrees, said: “Our love affair with Birmingham goes back to the 70’s when we played the Night Out club every year, sometimes for a week or more. We got to know the city well and have many wonderful memories of performing in Birmingham.”

The Three Degrees’ Valerie Holiday added: “We are very much looking forward to being in Birmingham again. It truly is one of our favourite cities.”

The Three Degrees featured in the Guinness World Records as ‘the longest-running female vocal group in history’ and were, without doubt, the most successful female soul/disco outfit of the 1970’s, scoring hit after hit for Philadelphia International Records, including the classics, ‘When Will I See You Again’, ‘Year of Decision’, ‘Take Good Care of Yourself’ and the UK Top 10 hits, ‘Woman In Love’ and ‘My Simple Heart’.

The influence and popularity of The Three Degrees has played an important role in bringing soul music to the world and they are considered as one of the most important ambassadors of American soul music, more than five decades after its birth.

The group show no signs of slowing down. Earlier this year, The Three Degrees released their first studio album in twenty five years. Recorded with full band and orchestra at Down In Deep Studios in Atlanta, USA, ‘Strategy (Our Tribute To Philadelphia)’, released 4th March on SoulMusic Records, features the trio’s own very personal tribute to timeless Philadelphia classic such as The O’Jays’ ‘Love Train’, The Trammps’ ‘Disco Inferno’, Billy Paul’s classic, ‘Me & Mr. Jones’ and the exciting title track, popularised by Archie Bell & The Drells, along with a new recording of the group’s own hit, ‘T.S.O.P’.

The 2016 tour, and Birmingham performance, coincides with the release of ‘Strategy’ and as their hugely successful 2015 UK tour will testify, the threesome has retained all three of their major qualities; their beauty, their sparkling choreography, and their precise vocal harmonies.

The Old Rep envisages more music nights in the future and with The Three Degrees kicking off these plans, producer Scott Ritchie, said: “It’s extremely exciting to present The Three Degrees at The Old Rep in the heart of Birmingham. I can’t think of a better act than the iconic group to kick start music nights at the venue. The audience are in for an evening of nostalgic entertainment from a wonderful group of ladies who continue to shine. I met The Three Degrees earlier this year and they are looking forward to seeing the crowd in Birmingham ‘shake their groove thing’. I hope this will be the start of more music events at The Old Rep in 2017. So please watch this space!”
