Sweet spot for romance, as Cadbury World celebrates first proposal of 2016

Love is in the air at Cadbury World ahead of Valentine’s Day next month, as the attraction played host to a surprise engagement this week.

Sharing more than just a love for chocolate, Chris Roberts, from Conwy in North Wales, organised the romantic gesture at the Birmingham based attraction, marking the place where he and his now fiancée, Harriette Curtis, enjoyed their first date.

Organised with the help of the talented Cadbury World chocolatiers, Chris surprised Harriette with a handmade chocolate plaque in the attraction’s popular Chocolate Making zone, with the couple’s parents waiting in the wings to join the celebration.

Home to a number of proposals in recent years, Cadbury World boasts a 100% ‘yes’ rate, and is also a popular spot for first dates.

The proposal comes as the attraction prepares for its annual Valentine’s Weekend. Featuring a real-life Cupid statue aiming to play matchmaker throughout the attraction, visitors will also be able to pick up a range of special handmade Valentine’s gifts in the World’s Biggest Cadbury Shop. Elsewhere, the Cadbury Café will also be serving up some special Valentine’s treats that are almost too good to share, providing the perfect pit-stop during your visit.

Diane Mitchell, marketing manager at Cadbury World, said: “We always love to help make a wedding proposal a special occasion and what better way than to say it with chocolate?

We’ve been delighted to help Chris plan the special moment with the help of our chocolatiers, and wish them both a lifetime of happiness together.”

Chris Roberts, 23, added: “I was so nervous in the run up to the day, but I can’t thank Dani and the rest of the Cadbury World team enough for all their help in making it so special. I think it came as a big surprise to Harriette, but I’m thrilled that she said yes, and looking forward to planning the wedding. I think a trip back to Cadbury World might be on the cards for our anniversaries!”
