West Brom Savers Kick-Start Children’s Hospital’s Latest Emergency Appeal
Savers at a leading regional building society have helped Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity take the ‘breaks’ off its Emergency X-Ray Appeal thanks to a £73,092 donation.
The payment has seen the West Brom contribute a massive ten per cent towards the appeal’s total target, through the annual proceeds of its Red Balloon Appeal Account which is based on the average balance of the savings held in all accounts.
The charity’s £700,000 appeal aims to replace the Emergency Radiology Department’s 20 year old x-ray machine with a new digital x-ray system and rejuvenate the cramped and old waiting room turning it into an open, family-friendly space.
Chief Executive of the West Brom, Jonathan Westhoff, said: “We are delighted to be supporting the Emergency X-Ray Appeal as we recognise the vital role the Emergency Radiology Department plays within the hospital.
“The idea behind our Red Balloon account is very simple – the more people are able to save with us, the more money we can generate for Birmingham Children’s Hospital and its fundraising appeals.
“It is our way, together with West Brom customers, of giving something back in recognition of the excellent work done at the hospital helping families right across the city, and often beyond.”
Since the West Brom launched the Red Balloon affinity account in 2007, it has generated a massive £614,000 for departments across the hospital, making a huge difference to the lives of thousands of patients.
Elinor Eustace, Deputy Director of Fundraising at Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “The West Brom has been a big friend of the hospital over the last eight years and we are truly grateful for its generous and heartfelt support.
“A visit to the Emergency Department is often a child’s first experience of our hospital and we are thankful that the West Brom understands the importance of this appeal and that broken bones can’t wait in an emergency. This fantastic donation has really boosted our fundraising and will help us give the best possible care in the best possible environment.”
