Six of Birmingham’s best art venues to open doors ‘after hours’ for annual ‘Galleries Night’
Culture lovers can get closer to Birmingham’s beating art as six city galleries open their doors after hours for the free annual event ‘Galleries Night’.
The city-wide initiative takes place on Friday October 30 from 5-9pm and celebrates the ‘vibrant and refreshing art scene in the UK’s Second City’.
A special ‘Art Bus’ will be provided to ferry members of the public between six of the city’s best galleries including:
- The Barber Institute of Fine Arts
- Parkside Gallery
- MAC Birmingham
- Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery (Gas Hall only)
- The Royal Birmingham Society of Artists
Complementary refreshments are also available at selected venues.
John Hall, Events and Exhibitions Manager at Parkside Gallery said: “Galleries Night is always a fantastic occasion, and a great way of bringing like minded people together to celebrate their passion for art and design.
“Being a free event with complementary refreshments in some venues it’s a great way to enjoy the best of Birmingham’s exhibitions in some of the city’s most significant spaces. It’s also important for gallery-hoppers to plan their evening. If they would like to fit in all galleries and make the most of this fantastic event they need to check the timetable and plan accordingly.”
Galleries Night has been organised to coincide with ‘Museums at Night’ – The UK’s festival for the culturally curious, which takes place twice a year between 30-31 October and 11-14 May.
Margot HC Russell, one of last year’s May attendees said: “This is a wonderful event and it is nice to meet up with like-minded people on the art bus too – very well done!”
