Crackling menu lined up for Glynn Purnell’s Friday Night Kitchen

With less than two weeks to go, ‘Yummie Brummie’ Glynn Purnell has announced the menu for Glynn Purnell’s Friday Night Kitchen (GPFNK), where he will be joined by Rustie Lee and TV foodie and host of the show, Gregg Wallace, for the ultimate Friday foodie event in Birmingham!

On Friday 2nd October, 400 guests will be treated to a five course meal demonstrated right in front of them by Michelin-starred chef Glynn Purnell, and prepared by the catering team at Aston Villa.

Opening proceedings, with the first course will be Rustie Lee. Inspired by her Jamaican roots, the starter will consist of a jerk chicken terrine served with an exotic mango salsa and crispy plantain. Vegetarians can enjoy three watermelon liqueurs served with seasonal fruit.

The main course is sure to tickle guests’ taste buds as crackling pork loin, selected from a local farmer, will be served alongside lashings of crispy crackling, roasted roots and potatoes, sausage stuffing, black pudding croquet, apple sauce and gravy. The chefs will also be serving up a vegetarian main course, which includes Bombay potato and cauliflower curry with naan, rice and poppadoms.

Glynn said: “We wanted to create a menu packed with flavoursome ingredients; all produced locally to give it a rustic feel. The menu is inspired by our own upbringings and we can’t wait to bring that family feel to the table so people can dig in and enjoy!”

Guests should leave plenty of room for dessert as the chef will be whipping up a trio of sweet treats inspired by traditional British puddings, featuring custard crème brûlée served with a shortbread biscuit, fruit and nut chocolate cake and Bird’s toffee pudding. Cheese and biscuits will also follow to finish off the meal.

Jackie Kelly, head of corporate partnerships at Cure Leukaemia and GPFNK event manager, said: “This menu perfectly combines Glynn and Rustie’s signatures styles with locally sourced ingredients, delivering a Friday night dinner with a difference for all our guests!”

The evening doesn’t end there as guests will be entertained until the early hours of the morning by popular live covers band and Jam House residents, as well as The Subterraneans, and a DJ set by Heart FM’s Russ Morris.
