Employees take time out to support National Paralympic Day
Held by the British Paralympic Association, the day offered the public the chance to try out a variety of disability sports, including Sitting Volleyball, Judo, Equestrian and ParaCanoe.
Employees were on hand on Sunday, 26th July to help the day run smoothly. At one of the most popular attractions, ‘Meet the Medallists’, volunteers assisted with crowd control as visitors had the chance to meet and have their pictures taken with Paralympic winners, including triple equestrian gold medallist, Sophie Christiansen, and silver table tennis medallist, Will Bayley.
Kelly Farrell, community affairs manager at Mondelēz International, said: “Our volunteers always enjoy supporting National Paralympic Day. They play a key role in the public’s involvement and enjoyment of the various sports on offer to try out. I’m really proud that they supported the event with such enthusiasm and dedication.”
Pierluigi Ratti, a product developer from Bournville who volunteered from Mondelēz, added: “I really enjoyed helping out at National Paralympic Day. It was great to see such a wide variety of sports available for the public to try and being part of the events in the London Aquatics Centre was amazing. The event was a lot of fun and I would happily volunteer again next year!”
Other activities available on the day included Boccia, a precision ball sport, Cycling and Gymnastics. Mondelēz International employees were also responsible for supporting the events at the London Aquatics Centre as British para-swimmers took on the rest of the world.
Sarah Chambers, National Paralympic Day project manager at the British Paralympic Association, added: “We had thousands of visitors to this year’s National Paralympic Day, therefore the support of volunteers is imperative to the event’s success. Thank you to all the Mondelēz International volunteers, their efforts will go a long way in supporting the association and we look forward to working with them in the future.”
