Employees take time out to support National Paralympic Day

A team of volunteers from global snack provider, Mondelēz International, have given up their time to support National Paralympic Day, now in its third year.

Held by the British Paralympic Association, the day offered the public the chance to try out a variety of disability sports, including Sitting Volleyball, Judo, Equestrian and ParaCanoe.

This year, fans can snap up tickets to cheer on GB athletes as they compete in world class sporting competition in both Swimming and Athletics, with Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park providing the focal point of the action. Elsewhere on the Park and at regional events in Nottingham, Brighton and Plymouth there is the chance to meet the medallists and try a range disability sports in celebration of the Paralympic movement. Local sports clubs throughout the country will be holding their own celebrations too, so find your nearest event and get involved in #NPD2015! Employees were on hand on Sunday, 26th July to help the day run smoothly. At one of the most popular attractions, ‘Meet the Medallists’, volunteers assisted with crowd control as visitors had the chance to meet and have their pictures taken with Paralympic winners, including triple equestrian gold medallist, Sophie Christiansen, and silver table tennis medallist, Will Bayley.

Kelly Farrell, community affairs manager at Mondelēz International, said: “Our volunteers always enjoy supporting National Paralympic Day. They play a key role in the public’s involvement and enjoyment of the various sports on offer to try out. I’m really proud that they supported the event with such enthusiasm and dedication.”

Pierluigi Ratti, a product developer from Bournville who volunteered from Mondelēz, added: “I really enjoyed helping out at National Paralympic Day. It was great to see such a wide variety of sports available for the public to try and being part of the events in the London Aquatics Centre was amazing. The event was a lot of fun and I would happily volunteer again next year!”
