Mo explains: “Throughout this academic year we have endeavoured to promote an ethos of helping others and have encouraged all our students to consider their place in the community. Birmingham Children’s Hospital is an institution. It treats one in five children who live in Birmingham every year and therefore is likely to touch everybody in our local area at some point in their lives.

“Because of this, I wanted the students to think about this and the ways in which they could help the Therefore, after signing up, I thought it would be a great idea to include my Year Seven students in my challenge. During the week running up to the event they will run jog or walk 10k – 2k each day.

“Our final goal is to raise enough money for a ‘Glideaway’ bed, to make sure mums and dads can stay with their child in hospital throughout the night.”

Miranda Williams, Public Fundraising Manager at Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, said: “We see every day the amazing work that goes on here at the hospital and are so grateful that our supporters turn out in force to support us each year through this event.

“It is really exciting to watch a sea of red taking over the streets of Birmingham and makes us feel ever more proud to be part of such a wonderful place.

“We are very thankful to Mo and his students for wanting to help raise valuable funds for our hospital. The money they contribute will go a long way to helping our patients and their families at the time they need it most.”
